Executive Director of Powercat Financial

The Executive Director of Powercat Financial will provide the strategic vision and leadership for advancing a comprehensive approach to improving the financial well-being of all students at Kansas State University. 

To ensure a blending of administrative and academic services, the incumbent will have a joint appointment within two major units – Powercat Financial (Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs) and Personal Financial Planning (College of Health and Human Sciences).  The Executive Director will hold a faculty title in Personal Financial Planning, with rank depending on candidate credentials.

Specific initiatives include supporting high schools in implementing new financial literacy education requirements, supporting prospective students in developing a college financial plan, integrating financial well-being content into course curriculum, and growing student access to peer-to-peer financial counseling services.  The successful candidate will serve as a leader and convener, directly supervising a dedicated team, as well as facilitating continued partnerships across a multi-campus system, and various stakeholders in Kansas.

  • Inform students and families of their financial aid options, including how to submit aid applications, as well as information on federal and institutional aid availability and eligibility requirements.

  • Teach students important financial literacy topics during one-on-one meetings and during group presentations, fostering positive financial discussions to set students up for financial success.

  • Inform students and their families of the affordability of Iowa State is also essential to our role.

  • Staffing university resource fairs and meeting with prospective students in surrounding communities are ways we introduce students to the world of financial aid and to our welcoming staff.

  • Administer the university’s default management programs and manage the financial literacy programs through the Office of Student Financial Success.

  • Supervise the study abroad and National Student Exchange processes within the office.

  • Assist with reviewing professional judgment appeals, such as special conditions, marital status appeals, independent appeals, and satisfactory academic progress appeals.

Financial Wellbeing Program Advisor

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Financial Advising, the Financial Wellbeing Program Advisor will provide students with advising, in close partnership with the Office of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services, around financial issues that may intersect with academic, social, and personal circumstances. The Financial Wellbeing Program Advisor also manages daily operations of assigned emergency grant funds and applications and oversees related financial wellbeing-related programs. Working closely with campus colleagues to process, deliver, and report on these awards, the Advisor will assist with identifying the hidden costs of a Brown education and propose programmatic solutions to address them. Program Manager, Student Financial Literacy

The Program Manager, Student Financial Literacy is responsible for collaborating with a team of internal and external community partners to provide financial counseling for students who are enrolled in Rush Medical College. Using a case management model, the financial literacy specialist will focus on building relationships with students to assist with budgeting and financial decision-making strategies while enrolled at RUSH University. The Program Manager will develop, prepare, and maintain an innovative financial literacy curriculum and syllabus to counsel students on topics such as budgeting, debt management, credit management, loan repayment and identity protection. This position will also assist with developing and implementing a financial wellness repository of internal and external resources to proactively promote and communicate the availability of educationally related financial information for students and that increases student satisfaction with debt management counseling and student loan repayment.
